Check current routes, step-free access and luggage requirements with the transport operator; convenience means different things for different travellers.
A slower itinerary can mean fewer transfers and more time in one place. Where your circumstances allow, walk short distances, use refillable bottles and avoid asking for unnecessary deliveries. These are practical choices, not a claim that any particular trip has no environmental impact.
Ask specific questions of the hotel
Look for dated, measurable information rather than a general “green” label. Useful questions cover energy use, water-saving measures, food waste, procurement, accessibility and the scope of any external certification. Check who issued a certification, which property it covers and whether it remains current.
You can ask about towel and linen changes, refillable toiletries and local food options without assuming that a luxury property performs well in every area. We do not assign environmental scores to the hotels in this collection and have not audited their emissions or supply chains.
Protect time away from your screen
Decide on a small number of useful times to check messages, then make the rest of the itinerary genuinely available for your holiday. A device-free breakfast, a walk before opening work email or a screen-free hour before bed can be easier to maintain than an unrealistic promise to disconnect completely.
Keep essential booking details and emergency contacts available offline. Turn off non-essential notifications, agree expectations with travelling companions and leave space for changes. If you spend a long period on a screen, pause regularly to move, rest your eyes and notice how you feel; your schedule should serve your rest.
Treat carbon contributions with care
Reducing avoidable travel and resource use comes before purchasing an offset. If you choose to fund a climate project, examine its public methodology, additionality, independent verification, permanence and treatment of double counting. A contribution does not automatically cancel the impacts of a journey or justify calling it carbon neutral.

Protect the budget needed for accommodation, transport, meals and getting home. If you visit an adult gaming venue during a trip, set a firm spending and time limit in advance, avoid borrowing and never treat gambling as a source of income. Do not let a venue promotion become the reason to extend an activity beyond the boundary you set.
